Meet Jocelyn

Jocelyn Camilla, 20
I live in San Jose, CA but am forever a Santa Barbara native. I moved to the Bay Area over a year and a half ago and am residing here while I work and go to school. I am chemistry major looking to go into the medical field. (I know, I am borderline psychotic for choosing chemistry. Eeek!!!) I love anything having to do with art and have a never ending obsession with doodling on things I probably shouldn’t doodle on. When I’m not at the gym I can be found at work, at school, or out fishing.

What is your workout of choice? My all-time favorite work out would have to be free weights. I absolutely love working out arms and am super guilty of working out arms more than I should but nothing gets me more pumped than some curls and lat pull-downs

What inspires you? The thing that inspires me the most is seeing progress. In my body, in my clothes, in other people, progress in general. As humans, we are constantly changing, but honestly change isn't always good unless it's positive and that's progress. Being able to say that you're a better you than you were yesterday. To me, that's inspiring.

What is your favorite dish? My favorite dish at the moment? That's an easy one! Grilled Tilapia tacos with pineapple mango salsa. They are super yummy and if you use whole grain tortillas they are definitely healthier than anything you get while eating out and they are also very filling! 

Why fitness? I see fitness as a way for me to be a better me. A year ago I was overweight, had no confidence and was an all around unhappy person. I finally decided that I didn't want to feel that way anymore and decided to sign up for a gym membership. 60 lbs lighter, and a year later, I'm a lot happier and stronger, mentally and physically, than I've ever been. Choosing to be fit has become the best choices I've made so far.

What’s in my gym bag: Like most women, I treat my gym bag like a purse. Yes! I'm one of those girls that carries half of her belongings in there! I always love to be prepared! I carry 2 sets of headphones (yes, 2! because we all know that headphones always go missing), a towel, extra blender bottles, headbands, hair ties, and of course, extra gym clothes
